This patch changes the 3D render and framebuffer resolutions of Persona 4 Golden on the Vita and PSTV to 1920x1080 or 1280x720. 1920x1080 can be output to HDMI, 1280x720 can be output to HDMI or USB (udcd-uvc (https://github.com/xerpi/vita-udcd-uvc/pull/60)), or Vita users can enjoy a supersampled image directly on the screen.
Download (https://bin.shotatoshounenwachigau.moe/vita/p4goldenhd/)
Installation
1. Install Persona 4 Golden and install the latest update, if available.
2. Install the latest version of Sharpscale (https://forum.devchroma.nl/index.php/topic,112.0.html) and the configuration app.
3. Turn on "Unlock framebuffer size" in the Sharpscale configuration app.
4. Install p4goldenhd.suprx under the appropriate title ID in your taiHEN config.
PCSG00004 Japan
PCSG00563 Japan (reprint)
PCSE00120 North America
PCSB00245 Europe
PCSH00021 Asia
For example,
*PCSG00563
ur0:/tai/p4goldenhd.suprx
If you are experiencing problems:
1. Disable Vitagrafix for this game.
2. If the plugin is loaded, a message will appear in the top left corner when the game starts. If you do not see a message, then the plugin is not loaded. Verify your config file.
Performance
Overclocking is required for good performance. With 1920x1080, framerate ranges between 20-30 FPS, with 25-30 FPS in all but the most graphically intensive areas. With 1280x720, framerate is 30 FPS.

Would it be possible to get this to output at 1080p (rather than 1080i) or is the vita tv hardware simply incapable of it?
-
1080p is possible at 30Hz, but there are some issues that I haven't been able to resolve. For example, some games will run at half the speed it normally runs at.

Thank you sir working perfectly on my Vita Tv
More power to all of you guys.. thanks again

Thanks a lot ! <3 im just having one tiny problem, im using psvshell as my overclocking plugin, once i installed the 720 patch to persona 4 i tried overclocking the game but it keeps crashing and rebooting the vita. It works fine on other games so i really dont know if its a problem from the patch or psvshell. Should i try another oc plugin?
-
This is a known problem of Psvshell with games that display larger than 960x544. You can do one of two things:
1. Disable the HD patch, set and save your overclock settings, then enable the HD patch again.
2. Use Lolicon which does not have this problem.
-
I can't overclock when running P4G (other games work). Is there any tricks to get it to overclock? Thanks.

Hello! Stupid user here. Where do i put in the code? I put the suprx with the others in the tai folder in ur0. I then go into the config.txt and put it under... *KERNEL? *main? *ALL? Make it it's own entry at the bottom? Top? Middle of the config.txt?
I don't have vitagrafix. I have the latest version of the game. I have the latest version of sharpscale and the configuration app. I'm trying to use the 720 version. What am I doing wrong?
-
I put the Sharpscale.skprx under *Kernel. Then the p4goldenhd.suprx (remember to rename the suprx and change to whatever game title ID your game is) at the very end of the config.
*KERNEL
ur0:tai/gamesd.skprx

PSVShell menu doesn't show up with the patch. If you're on a PSTV, I recommend using lolita500. If you wanna use PSVShell still or are on a Vita; disable the patch, set the overclock, enable the patch again.
-
Thanks for the tip. Yes, I got LOLIcon plugin to work. I forgot to update my previous post.

Wait... Does that mean I have to get rid of the "_1280x720" portion of the suprx file name? If so, how could I be so dumb!? If I'm incorrect, how can I continue to be so dumb!? Lol. Thanks, awdrifter
-
Okay, new question. Got it to work, thanks to help from awdrifter. It's 720p goodness, but it only displays in a small box in the middle of the screen, which kinda sucks, cuz I wanted full screen. I guess I'd have to do the 1080p version? Or is there a way to display full screen?
-
Sorry, I'm running the 1080p version, so I'm not entirely sure. Maybe try setting Scaling mode to Original in the Sharpscale Configuration Menu. If that doesn't work, you can also try going to Setting > Sound and Display and changing the TV resolution to 720p (default is automatic).
-
Amazing work. wonder if the new PC release can be used to create 1080p and 720p UI assets and character portraits. The PC version still looks a little rough around the edges and I think I'll stick to my Vita TV for now.

Thanks, I'll have to try that. I couldn't earlier cuz I had to go to work

Wouldn't it be possible to have an option to enable it for just P4G (or, rather, games with 1920x1080 patches in general)?

Wow, the new assets look pretty good for being upscaled. might look into uprezing the assets myself for a 720p game. I know nothing about vita hacking so this will be interesting.

Would it be possible to make a 1600x900 resolution mod? I'm playing with the 1080 mod and the slowdowns a bit too often in battles. Thanks.
-
This is really awesome. I managed to make the normal Sharpscale + VitaGrafix work on my PS TV and I really liked the sharpness of the image, although would have preferred if it filled out the screen.
I can't seem to get this particular plugin to work right though, anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
On 1080p mode, it works fine. But EVERYTHING is lagging. I overclocked it already to max but it just keeps on lagging and for me is unplayable.
On 720p mode, it works okay but then the whole thing is zoomed in a little bit and it cuts off the edges of the screen.
Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong?
These are my settings:
- sharpscale plugin ON
- vitagrafix plugin OFF
- PSTV Display settings set to 720p
Thanks in advance! I always get excited when there's a new way to play P4G on the PS TV/Vita. Love that game to bits.

Yes I can do that. I will also need to make an update to Sharpscale to allows arbitrary framebuffer sizes.

If you are talking about a few lines cut off from the bottom, that is a consequence of the original 960x544 framebuffer resolution, which is a slightly different aspect ratio than 16:9. It's necessary to cut off a few lines to display the correct 3D image.

Most TV has an overscan adjustment, for my LG TV it is called Aspect Ratio, I choose "Just Scan" and it leaves just a small black border around the image. Look at you TV's user manual and see what options it has.

Looks beautiful, works perfectly, however I have these weird white lines across the top of my PSTV when I use this. Any idea how to fix?

That's probably not a problem with this plugin. If you've eliminated other factors then take a picture and follow the link in the OP to make a bug report.

Hi, I'm incredibly new to modding my Vita in any way. Basically just managed to install Henkaku, autoplugin and now Sharpscale.
Only reason I wanted to finally delve into the modding scene for this system is so that I can have the best possible time playing my digital copy of P4G on my PSTV.
I am at a total loss on how to edit code, I'm worried about not installing the right things and could really appreciate any full length guide.
Thank you!

Don't want to sound rude but you have to put an effort before asking questions as stated in rule 2: https://forum.devchroma.nl/index.php/topic,2.0.html , you have been warned. There are many guides on google on how to install vita plugins. You can also ask on Henkaku discord server as theyre very helpful in installing plugins: https://discord.com/invite/m7MwpKA

Hi, yes I feel I have. I've been looking into this all the past week. Spend around 7 hours or so in total trying to install everything and get it running properly. When I search for certain things online I don't find a guide that makes sense to me. I have ASD so I benefit from visualising what I need to do and learning from watching others. Hence my initial request.
Thank you.

Got the patch working!!
I installed the 1080 patch, is it possible to also apply the 720 one too? I would love to compare the two on the fly.

I've made a mistake and now my prrsona 4 golden hd plugin doesn't work properly. I installed vitagraphix for another game and was hoping I could mess with the code to take out anything relating to P4G, however even though saying the patch was successful I notice a lot of jagged edges, not sharp or smooth which the HD plugin would do. I uninstall vitagraphix and also deleted all folders and everything regarding it on my vita. But the same still happened in P4G. I even deleted and then re installed the HD plugin and sharpscale. I have no clue how to remedy this

Hey everyone!
I got my vita about a week ago and I've had a blast hacking it, putting tons of roms and ISOs on my SD card (ux0.)
What a brilliant system. As a long-time retro game enthusiast and collector this is perfect for my portable needs.
I've successfully installed the P4Golden HD mod through Autoplugin II (1080x720 being my preferred resolution for the nice framerate.) I'm using Lolicon for the overclocking and sharpscale has "unlock framebuffer size" enabled.
I have two questions. First one is really basic: Is this patch only useful for outputting on PSTV? Will it affect how the game looks on the Vita's screen? I THINK its looking better but it's hard to tell...........
Second question:
I have this green error message at the top left corner of my system whenever i start an application or return to the vita's home screen.
"There was a problem loading. : 3"
Everything seems to be running fine with no issues. Can someone tell me what this error is about? Do I need to change something in my config.txt?
Thanks everyone!

Thank you OP for all the amazing work! I did have a question however, as it is listed here (https://git.shotatoshounenwachigau.moe/vita/p4goldenhd/about/ (https://git.shotatoshounenwachigau.moe/vita/p4goldenhd/about/)) that there is a third version of the patch (960x544 MSAA 4x), however I cannot find it anywhere. Could you add this third version, if it is complete, to the downloads in your first post, please? Either way, thank you for your time and have a nice day :)

The 960x544 MSAA 4x version does not have a binary because MSAA does not work in most in-game locations.

Hi, I've been using the 720p plugin on my PS TV and have been enjoying it so far! Really a big fan of your work cuevavirus.
One minor thing though, is it normal for the "Patch Success" message to appear in the middle of the game? The message appears at the start of the game when it is launched which I assume is normal, but after playing for a while it suddenly appears again right in the middle of the game. It's not game-breaking but does bother me a tiny tiny bit especially when it appears during a cutscene and was wondering if this was normal or maybe there's something on my settings to cause it to do so?
Thanks for any help or insight about this.

This is a cosmetic bug in the plugin. Don't worry about it. I'll fix it in the next version.
